Overview

The Ford IDS and VCM/VCM II provides complete diagnostic coverage of current and future Ford and Lincoln vehicles. This includes module reprogramming, key programming, and other functions. This is the same tool used by Ford and Lincoln dealerships with the same level of functionality.

Ford-Lincoln-Mercury Factory Scan Tools. Ford's Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS): This is the current OEM tool for all Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealers. Introduced to the Ford dealer service departments for model year 2005, this PC based tool covers all Fords models from 1996 to current year. Installing ELM327 USB Cable Scan Tool on Windows. What's Included: 1x Total Car Diagnostics genuine ELM327 chip - FORD USB Scanner. (Software is not included. That's up to you to get separately. For Windows, we recommend TOAD software). We're 100% confident that our ELM327 Ford USB scan tool device is going to work on your car.

The IDS is a PC based OBD2 Scan Tool that utilizes a USB equipped PC. The tool provides a touchscreen interface when used with the recommended Panasonic tough book but can be used with most Intel based laptops. The VCM II is wireless as shipped but can be used with a USB cable.

PC Requirements:

Laptop PC recommended with Intel i5 or i7 Processor 2Ghz or faster, at least 2Gb memory Win7 32 or 64bit or 4Gb Memory and Windows 8.1 64bit Professional, USB 2.0 port for VCM, Additional USB 2.0 port if VMM will be used. High Speed Internet connection required. PC to VCM wireless capability is available.

Software License

Ford IDS requires a software license with a $849 annual renewal. The subscription licenses one PC, scan tool software and programming subscription. The tool will timeout if it is not able to connect to the license server at least once in 29 days, if required software updates are not performed or at the end of the 365 day subscription.
